Sandro Mazzola, one of the greatest legends of Italian and international football, celebrates his 83rd birthday today. Born in Turin in 1942, the former footballer made history primarily with the Nerazzurri jersey, that of Inter, with which he wrote unforgettable chapters of sport and emotion for Nerazzurri fans.

His sporting career began at just 18 years old, in a memorable match against Juventus, where he scored his first goal: a flash that ignited the future of a football legend. For 17 seasons, he wore the Inter jersey, making 565 appearances and scoring 158 goals, becoming the true face of a winning Inter side. His charisma, his class, and his swerving runs on the pitch set San Siro alight and won the hearts of the fans.

He won four Scudetti, and among his greatest successes, Mazzola won two European Cups and two Intercontinental Cups, both with the Milan team. The night of the 1964 European Cup final in Vienna remains unforgettable, when his two goals helped defeat Real Madrid and give Inter their first European title. He also made a significant impact with the Italian national team, winning the European title in 1968 and reaching the World Cup final in 1970.
